Two universal truths are that everyone loves juice and we all know a beer lover. If it isn’t you, you know someone who loves to open a chilled brew on a hot summer day.

Enter: the beermosa!

The beermosa is a delicious blend of fresh orange juice and wheat beer. It’s smooth, ice-cold, fizzy, sweet, and oh-so-refreshing.

It’s perfect for Father’s Day or any summer brunch.

About this recipe

Orange juice is a great addition to many of your favorite alcoholic beverages (mimosa, anyone??). In fact, some of the most popular wheat beers contain orange flavor and come garnished with an orange, like Bell’s famous wheat beer Oberon. While not a Belgian wheat, Oberon knows what’s up and combines the classic ale flavors with a fruity twist. You’ll find similarly good things happening with a can of Bluemoon or Dogfish.

Your new favorite drink, the beermosa, takes advantage of the flavors of wheat beer that are practically begging for a splash of fresh juice. Orange juice adds acidity and brightness to the beer, which mellows the hops and enhances the refreshment.

So the next time you’re reaching for an orange juice with champagne or with vodka, try an IPA or a wheat beer instead. You’ll be really glad you did!

  • Mix things up by adding a teaspoon or two of grenadine for a layered look.
  • Try using different flavored orange juices such as orange pineapple or orange mango.

Make Ahead Ideas

If you plan to consume them fairly quickly, you can mix up a pitcher of beermosas. They’re best before they lose that chilled edge.
